Fees & Subsidies

Our Kindergarten program has only one funding source which families can access to reduce the cost of their child's fees. This funding is State Government funded and is called the Queensland Kindergarten Funding Scheme (QKFS). At Gundala we pass on the full amount of this funding onto families to ensure cost is not a barrier for families accessing the kindergarten program. Standard per child subsidy is paid on a per child basis for each eligible-age-child enrolled (children who are at least four years old by 30 June in the year they participate). Funding is specifically provided for the approved kindergarten learning program.

To be eligible for the QKFS Plus Kindy Support, families must demonstrate one of the following criteria

A child is eligible in any of the following circumstances

  • if the child identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander

  • if the child is identified on their birth certificate as being a multiple birth child (triplets or more)

Or if a parent/carer/guardian or child holds one of the following:

  • a current Commonwealth Health Care Card

  • a current Commonwealth Pensioner Concession Card

  • a Department of Veteran’s Affairs Gold Card or White Card

Supporting documentation must be sighted by staff at the centre on commencement of kindergarten program.

If you are the holder of a Health Care Card/Pension Card for any period during the year please speak with the Director as you may be eligible for the QKFS Plus funding scheme.

As of Families who are eligible to receive funding/subsidies are also required to sign the fee payment agreement as they will be responsible for the payment of any fees owing should there be a change in their funding/subsidy eligibility. Failure to sign this agreement will result in the cancellation of the placement offer.

Payment of Fees

Families/guardians who are required to pay the gap in fees are requested to pay term fees two weeks in advance. Fees will be invoiced to parents/carers/guardians directly and must be paid by the date indicated on the invoice. Each invoice will include payment instructions with the option of paying their fees by direct deposit into the kindy bank account, by cheque or by direct debit arrangements. A late fee will be applied for accounts not settled by the due date.

Families/guardians can contact Gundala Kindy to arrange a suitable alternative payment plan if they are having difficulty paying fees. Confidentiality will be maintained in relation to the financial/personal circumstances of all families.

The Gundala Kindy Management Committee will regularly review payment options and procedures to ensure that they are inclusive and sensitive to families’ cultural and financial situations.

Our Fee’s

2022

Kindergarten program – $1271 per term

Building levy – $50 per term (tax deductible contribution)

Payment options

  • Per term in full – $1271; or

  • Per fortnight – $255; or

  • Per week – $127

  • Casual enrolment – daily rate – $48 (places are subject to availability, and terms and conditions apply.)

Payment of Full Fees is based on a 40 week school year. Fees must be paid two weeks in advance at all times if not paying in full (eg. $1271 in one payment).

Fees are to be paid weekly and two weeks in advance. Failure to do so will result in your child’s enrolment being in jeopardy.

Each week we ask you to pay fees for the current week on the first day of attendance in the week. Fee payments continue during your child’s absence due to illness, annual holidays and public holidays or for any other reason, except for the two weeks over Christmas and New Year when the Centre is closed.

Fees can be paid by cash or cheque at the office or by direct deposit into Gundala's bank account. Fee statements are emailed on a weekly basis. Please contact the office for more information and to ensure your details are current.

2023

The State Government has annouced an increase in funding for eligible children who meet the requirements for our Kindergarten program for 2023. All Concession Card holders and children who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, will receive the maximum funding to subsidise their child's fees. This could mean that you recieve FREE kindy or very low cost kindy, e.g. $20 per term. The Fee Statement for Gundala is currently under advisement and will not be released until Term 4, 2022.

Unpaid Fees

  • Fees not paid by the due date will be followed up by:

  • a copy of the unpaid invoice will be sent stating fees are overdue

  • if payment is still not received after two weeks the families will be contacted by telephone or SMS to discuss outstanding fees. A payment plan and/or support options may be discussed at this time

  • at four weeks continued non-payment of fees will result in a final letter and outstanding invoices being sent notifying parents/carers/guardians that unless a payment is made within ten working days or a payment plan entered into and adhered to, their child’s enrolment will be suspended and parents notified in writing.

  • When fees are paid the child/ren’s enrolment will be reinstated

Refund of Fees

All fees are non-refundable including the following circumstances:

  • a child’s short-term illness

  • exclusion of an unimmunised child during the occurrence of infectious disease in the kindy

  • public holidays

  • family holiday during operational times

  • a family chooses not to send their child to the kindy for the maximum number of hours for which their child is enrolled

  • closure of the program when a degree/diploma qualified educator is absent and a qualified equivalent relief education is not available

  • closure of the program for staff training days

  • closure of the program due to extreme and unavoidable circumstances; and closure of the program due to authorised union action.
